Palm Tree Gourmet: A Hidden Gem for Hoagies and Breakfast Sams in Philadelphia

Can’t believe I didn’t know about this place until now! I am an NYC native but have been living in Philly for 8 years and always in search of the classic bodega with reliable lunch sandwiches. This is it! I got the P2 on a wrap and subbed in muenster cheese. Also came with chips. Finished it on my walk before I got home! I’ll be back!

Best sandwiches in the area! Hoagie was a good size and they have great quality ingredients. Was ready reasonably fast. Nice service and very clean shop. They also have coffee, ice cream, beverages, some pantry staples, fruit and snacks

I had to come again all the way from Southside for the salads here. I haven't eaten a better salad than this even at gourmet restaurants Great service

Palm Tree Gourmet is undoubtedly our favorite neighborhood deli in Center City and the closest thing we’ve found to a true New York City–style bodega in Philadelphia. As a family-run business, it exudes warmth the moment you step inside. Everyone is genuinely kind, welcoming, and appreciative, and over time, they recognize familiar faces, making it feel like a neighborhood staple. The store is always bright, spotless, and well-organized, stocked with a wide selection of drinks, snacks, and everyday essentials, so you can quickly pick up a snack or enjoy a full meal. The food here is consistently excellent and thoughtfully prepared. The bagels are always fresh, the breakfast sandwiches are reliable, the meatball sandwich offers comforting familiarity, and the Caesar wrap is consistently fresh and satisfying. My personal favorite is the Ovengold turkey, made with flavorful turkey, honey mustard, sprouts, and cheese, all on freshly baked bread. It’s simple, tasty, and always hits the spot. We often visit with our daughter, and it’s become part of our family routine. Thank you for always giving our daughter (and our dog!) treats when we come in—it’s a small gesture that makes a big difference and fosters a welcoming atmosphere. Supporting a local family business that takes pride in their work feels truly rewarding. Palm Tree Gourmet offers something special to the neighborhood. If you’re looking for great sandwiches, fresh bagels, a variety of drinks, and some of the friendliest staff in the city, this place is a true gem.

I’m on the hunt for the best chicken caesar wrap in Philly and Palm Tree Gourmet came highly recommended! It did not disappoint. The wrap was warm but all the ingredients inside (especially the lettuce) were cold and crisp. There was a bit more lettuce than chicken and croutons than I’d like, but not enough to knock a star. I also got a side of dressing but it wasn’t necessary, it was properly dressed. Service was friendly and extremely quick. I will definitely be back in the future!

Great deli and convenience store for drinks, snack foods, and basic groceries. Lots of different sandwiches available on a self-serve screen, and a bunch of snacks and chips that you won't be able to find in many other places in the city. Also some of the cheaper bagels and bagel sandwiches in the city for breakfasts. Snack and grocery offerings lean Asian/Korean/Japanese (turtle chips, chili oil, curry blocks, roll cakes) and are always high quality from what I've tried.

The staff are all great and only surpassed by the excellent menu and merchandise mix for shopping.

I love this store! It’s so convenient when running around for work and you can pop in, order a custom wrap/sandwich that is ready to go in minutes, and that is delicious every time. Also, the convenience of grabbing any groceries or perishable foods is amazing. The staff is very kind, as well!
